Data
Access Studio™ - Integration with OneWorld®
Data Access Studio™ (DAS)
is designed for the OneWorld® system. This means
you will have to spend less time setting up DAS and more time deriving benefit.
This document outlines how DAS integrates with OneWorld®.

Deployment Server
We begin with the Deployment server. When you first
receive DAS, you will install it to the Deployment Server. The
installation program does the following:
-
Creates a new "Data Access Studio" directory
in the B7 directory.
-
Copies DAS files to this directory.
-
Creates the table FDASROP in System - B7XXXX
datasource
-
Creates OCM mappings for all environments to point
FDASPROP to System - B7XXXX
Workstation
Once DAS is installed to the Deployment Server, DAS becomes
available to your OneWorld® end-users. If you have network management
software such as ZenWorks® or Tivoli®, you can deploy the DAS.msi package to
each target client.
If you do not have network management software, each
OneWorld® Workstation must install DAS once. From then on, these
workstations will automatically receive updates from the Deployment Server.
Users may run DAS from the desktop or by running the appropriate shortcut from
OneWorld®. Users sign into DAS with their OneWorld login and password.
Citrix®
If you have a Citrix® Server or a Citrix® farm, you install
DAS to the Citrix® server in the same manner as a OneWorld Workstation (described
above). Users then sign on to OneWorld® and run DAS from the fastpath.
Enterprise Server
DAS utilizes the following OneWorld® information:
-
DAS enforces
OneWorld® column and row security for each signed on user.
-
DAS utilizes
OCM information to determine where to open a table by default.
-
DAS
utilizes Data Dictionary and Table specifications to present and format the
OneWorld® tables. This means that the data is correctly formatted for your
end-users.
Database Server
DAS, of course, enables the user to view the data on your
database server (using the appropriate OneWorld® security provisions.)
DAS enables users to customize the layout and appearance of
all tables and views. DAS, furthermore, enables the user to save each of
these custom reports. DAS maintains the user's reports and customizations
in a central table (FDASPROP) in your System - B7XXX datasource. This way,
users always have access to their customizations--users also do not have to
worry about losing customizations when they perform a Client Install. DAS
enables users to share report customizations through a fast export/import
process.
