Install Data Access Studio to EnterpriseOneŽ Deployment Server

Overview

These installation instructions show how to install Data Access Studio onto your EnterpriseOne system.  Use these instructions to install the trial or purchased versions of Data Access Studio.  These instructions apply to the following E1 releases:

  • Xe
  • ERP8
  • E1 8.9
  • E1 8.10
  • E1 8.11
  • E1 8.12

The basic steps for the install are as follows:

  1. Download DAS.exe from the website
  2. Run DAS.exe on an EnterpriseOne workstation.

The DAS.exe installer modifies your EnterpriseOne system as follows:

  1. New Directory.  Create a Data Access Studio directory on your deployment server.  Copy files to this directory.
  2. New Table.  Create a new table: FDASPROP in your System datasource.
  3. New OCM Map. Create an OCM mapping for FDASPROP.
  1. Once the Data Access Studio directory is created on your deployment server, you may install to any of the the following:
    1. EnterpriseOne workstation.  This is the installation to use if your users run on EnterpriseOne fat clients.
    2. Citrix Server.  This is the installation to use if your users dial in via a WAN connection.
    3. DAS Server.  This is the installation to use if your users are located within your LAN but do not run on an EnterpriseOne fat client.

The instructions below contain hyperlinks to Frequently Asked Installation Questions.

Step 1 - Download and run self-extracting executable

Step 2 - Install DAS to your OneWorldŽ Deployment Server

  • On your OneWorld workstation, run DAS.exe (or DASUpdate if this is an update).  DO NOT run DAS.exe or DASUpdate.exe directly on your deployment server.  See: Why do I need to install from an EnterpriseOne Workstation?
  • Once you run DAS.exe (DASUpdate.exe) on your workstation, you will be prompted by the self-extracting setup dialog:

  • Select "Setup".

  • Read the agreement.  If you accept the terms, choose "I Accept the Agreement" and press "Next".

  • If this is the first time installing Data Access Studio, you need to provide the database user and password to generate the FDASPROP table in your system data source.  The installer populates the datasource field with the recommended data source.  If you are applying an update, the installer will skip this screen.  See: Why does DAS.exe create FDAPSROP in my system datasource?
  • If your E1 setup is the standard setup, then the following represents the valid "User" values for each release:
    • Xe - SYS7333
    • ERP8 - SYS7334
    • E1 8.9 - SY89
    • E1 8.10 - SY810
  • Although it is not recommended, you may type in another data source.
  • Once you have filled in all fields, press "Next".
  • Review the Install summary and press Finish.
  • If you encounter problems, you may review the displayed install log .  If you cannot resolve an installation issue, please send the jde.log and install log (cut-and-paste) to support@dominionsoft.com.

Step 3 - Deploying DAS to your enterprise

Once you have installed DAS to the deployment server, you may deploy DAS Client in one or more of the following ways:

See: What are the DAS deployment options?  for more information about each deployment option.

Step 4 - Request License

The workstation install program creates a shortcut to DAS on your desktop.  For this step, make sure that you are connected to the Internet - the license request system sends an email to Dominion Software.

  • Double-click the DAS shortcut.
  • Sign into an environment.
  • DAS will present an license screen.  Click "Request License"
  • On the request license form fill out all fields.
  • Press "Submit" to send the request. (You may have to retry this step depending upon your connection)
  • Cancel out of Data Access Studio.

Dominion will generate a license and send it back to the email you entered on the license request form.

Step 5 - Run DAS

  • When you receive your license (.dasl file), run DAS
  • At the license screen, click "Import License".
  • Select the .dasl file that you received.
  • After the import, DAS will be activated for all licensed users.  Note that you only have to import a given license once.  For example, if you purchase a 10-user license, you import the 10-user license once.  From that point forward, DAS users will consume the licenses that you imported.
  • Note that if you exceed the number of purchased licenses, DAS will prompt the user with a dialog box that indicates that the number of user licenses has been exceeded.  This user will not be able to run DAS until the other licenses are released or until you purchase additional licenses.

Staying current

  • To keep up with new versions of DAS, simply download the latest DASUpdate.exe and perform step 2 above.
  • Once the Deployment Server has the updated version of the software, all workstations will automatically get the update on the next sign-on.
